Carrots
Carrots are a favorite cool weather - sow them in the spring when the soil has warmed to 50 degrees F or sow them one or two weeks before the last frost date for best results. Carrots germinate slowly, but after that they are easily grown.

Corn
Corn is definitely a summer favorite crop! It is pollinated by the wind, so plant in blocks at least 4x4. Sow seeds after the danger of frost has past -- corn is a summertime vegetable. Harvest the ears when the silks are brown and a kernel, pinched with your fingernail, releases a milky liquid.

Tomatoes
When I think of vegetable gardens, I immediately think of a sun-warmed, homegrown tomato right off the vine! There are "DETERMINATE" (non-vining/fruit mostly ripens all at the same time) and "INDETERMINATE" (vining plants that continue to produce blossoms through out the growing season). Come join us as we discuss growing tomatoes in our raised beds.
